Chevrolet once used three Corvairs to cross the Darien Gap - they succeeded, but never brought the cars back. Two made it to Columbia after passing through the jungle, with the third (pictured) abandoned in the forest to this day.

Big fat PR stunt I presume. It was the first time a 2WD vehicle had crossed the Darien.
